WINTER RUNNING WITH WERC!

As the darker evenings and colder weather settle in, keeping our members safe while enjoying their running remains a top priority at West Edinburgh Running Club.

Whether you're joining us for Thursday training, heading out for an early morning run or getting some miles in at the weekend, it's important to take a few extra precautions during the winter months.

Winter Running Safety Guide:

Our fantastic WERC Coaching and Welfare Team have put together a handy Winter Running Safety Guide, packed with useful tips and advice to help members stay safe, visible and prepared when running in winter conditions.

We encourage all members to take a few minutes to read through the guide and familiarise themselves with the recommendations.

Inclement Weather Policy:

We all know how unpredictable the Scottish weather can be, particularly during the winter months!

From icy pavements to heavy rain and strong winds, there may be occasions when conditions make it unsafe for our usual club training sessions to go ahead.

Our Inclement Weather Policy explains how the club makes decisions about training when the weather isn't playing ball, with the safety and wellbeing of our members always coming first.

We encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the policy and keep an eye on club communications for any updates to training arrangements.

Let’s Keeping Running Safely!

Winter running can be incredibly rewarding, and with a little preparation and awareness, there's no reason we can't continue enjoying our miles together throughout the colder months.

Thank you to our Coaching and Welfare Team for putting together these helpful resources and for their continued commitment to keeping WERC members safe.

Be safe, be seen and look out for one another this winter!
