WEEKLY UPDATE 24TH MAY
Well done to all the people who have taken part in the EMF this weekend and repped the colours across the city (and let's be honest, East Lothian).
Membership is close to the magic number
Those of you who have been here from the start know that when our membership renews at the start of April, a few folk don't renew right away and we lose some to house moves, city moves, taking up cycling and lycra etc. Each year I give a prize to our 100th member who signs up...and it's really close - months quicker than ever before.
Will you be the 100th member and receive a custom WERC prize?
Club Championship
We had a great - and hideous - time at the Rigg Race on Monday night. Both races in May were hard as nails in-fact! Standings and champs race results at the link. Next month we have Holyrood Parkrun, so get along each Saturday to post your best time, and we also have the Blast RunningSunset Marathon 7k and half marathon. Of course, the marathon counts too under the "Any Marathon" category of the champs.
Scottish Running Week
We are celebrating Scottish Running Week in June. We will be welcoming non-members to Early Risers, having a relay race down at Cramond Prom (THERE WILL BE NO SESSION AT SAUGHTON ON THE 4TH JUNE!) and wearing club kit for our first Holyrood parkrun of May. It was great to have Jenny Selman of Athletics Trust Scotland with us on Thursday night to get the ball rolling with SRW.
If you haven't signed up for a relay team, start doing so. If you don't have a team, and are happy with be paired with anyone just stick your name down beside a blank team.
This week we had our quarterly committee meeting, and as always I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Kathryn Sykes Martin Brennan Rha Mcg and Dom Godfrey for their commitment to the club.
All are giving up significant time and giving out significant energy to ensure the club runs smoothly and in line with our values. This was evident tonight in the way they spoke about the club and it's membership with passion, care and respect.
You are in safe hands. Thank you all.
